Presidium Analog Tester Basics

Analog vs Digital: Analog dials provide a visual range of conductivity, which is more useful for colored gem identification than a simple digital "Diamond" or "Not Diamond" light.
Separating Stones: The device is excellent for distinguishing a ruby from red glass, or a sapphire from blue topaz, based on where the needle lands in the colored gem zone.
Limitations: A thermal gem tester cannot differentiate between natural stones and their lab-grown synthetic equivalents (e.g., natural ruby vs. synthetic flame-fusion ruby) because they have the exact same chemical composition and thermal properties.
