Understanding block mechanics on X:

What blocked users can't do: View the blocker's profile or tweets, follow them, send DMs, see their likes or retweets, or @mention them in a way they'd see.

What you'll see: When you visit a profile that blocked you, X shows a generic message — the profile appears to exist but content is hidden. This is different from a suspended or deactivated account.

Mutual blocks: If both users block each other, neither can view the other's content. Unblocking is one-sided — you can unblock someone without them unblocking you.

Block lists: X allows importing block lists, so you might be blocked by someone you've never interacted with if you're on a shared block list.

Keep these points in mind:

• Blocks are private — X doesn't publicly disclose who you've blocked or who has blocked you. This tool checks observable indicators.
• Don't harass — If someone has blocked you, respect their decision. Creating alternate accounts to circumvent blocks violates X's Terms of Service.
• Check for other causes — A profile you can't see might be deactivated, suspended, or set to private — not necessarily blocking you.
• Soft blocks exist — Some users 'soft block' (block then immediately unblock) to force-unfollow someone. This won't show as a block in checks.
